The Gut Check is an intensive challenge that will push you to your limits and cultivate the skills you need to excel in mentally and physically demanding environments. Whether you're looking to boost your confidence, develop your leadership skills, test your physical fitness, or enhance your ability to work as part of a team, the Gut Check is the perfect opportunity to challenge yourself, grow, and emerge stronger.
Over the course of the event, you will endure 12 hours of physically grueling and mentally taxing tasks similar to special operations selections. You will be challenged to demonstrate your ability to perform under pressure, make quick decisions, and work as a part of a team to perform at your best. This is an opportunity to hone your resilience, fortitude, and mental toughness, and emerge with a renewed confidence in your abilities as a human, leader, and team player.

Physically be able to: Run, walk while carrying a load, and perform calisthenics.
We shoot for a 100% completion rate. The only way you will fail is if you quit.

About the Facilitator:
Athan Schindler is a battle-hardened First Sergeant with nearly 22 years of military service. He's a combat veteran, Airborne Ranger, Infantry Instructor, and certified Master Fitness Trainer. Athan is committed to helping others push beyond their perceived limitations and emerge stronger, more resilient, and more confident in their abilities as leaders and team players. As the leader of the Gut Check event, Athan will inspire you to embrace the challenge and achieve victory through discipline, dedication, and unwavering determination.
Will I be publicly berated or degraded?
No. You will not be spoken to in any way that will be considered abusive. HOWEVER, you may be spoken to loudly, made uncomfortable, or confronted with your behavior or way of being. Overall, this event is designed to be positive and transformational.
Will I be able to do this physically?
Level of fitness won't matter. It'll suck more if you're not in great shape. But, the physical aspects of this program will be doable by any level of fitness.
What if I have a medical condition?
If you have a medical condition, please consult with your physician before registering for this event. While the physical demands of this event can be challenging, they are manageable for most individuals. However, if you have any concerns about your ability to participate, please speak with us beforehand so we can make any necessary accommodations. Some upper body injuries may be manageable. You can't have an injury that prevents you from walking, running, or carrying weight.
Is this game, race, or competition of some sort?
No. This is a personal development event. People who sign up for this event are those who want to explore their abilities as human beings and who are looking to expand what they are currently capable of.
Will there be any weapons involved?
No. There will be no weapons involved in any part of this event.
What should I bring with me to the event?
You will receive a detailed packing list one week before the event. You will need a small backpack to carry your items.
What if I need to drop out of the event early?
Participants are expected to stay for the full 12 hours, but if you need to drop out for any reason, you will be able to do so. However, please note that there will be no refunds given for participants who choose to drop out early.
Is there an age limit for participants?
Yes, participants must be at least 15 years old to participate. Participants who are younger than 18 years old must have a guardian sign a waiver for them.
Is this event only for Strive members?
No, anyone can sign up.
Can I bring friends or family to watch?
No. Only registered participants will be allowed.
